Introducing Appointed

I'm so excited for today's official launch of Appointed — an American-made brand of functional and beautiful desktop goods designed to elevate the work experience. Appointed is my long time dream and I've spent the last year researching, designing and prototyping a full suite of desktop products. Today, we launched on Kickstarter to secure funding that will support our overall brand and put our signature product — the notebook — into production.

I'm so fortunate to be able to do what I love and I'm proud of the work we do, and will continue to do, at SIMPLESONG Design. In recent years, we've focused on branding and identity design and select event and wedding collateral design.  But, I've always loved beautiful product design and of course, all things paper.  And after extensively researching the landscape of desktop products and discovering a lack of simple, well-designed, gender-neutral workplace goods that are American made, I decided I wanted to change that.  And, Appointed was born.  The funds I hope to raise from the Kickstarter campaign will fund the production of our signature product — the notebook.  And later this year, we'll begin production of Phase II of Appointed goods — all available in our web shop this summer.

I can't wait to share all the things I have in store for Appointed. But first, we'll start with the launch of the Kickstarter campaign and produce beautiful notebooks that will inspire beautiful work!

I've realized in business and in life, risk-taking is frightening but necessary.  And putting myself out there with this Kickstarter campaign is definitely a risk.  But, I believe in this brand and the products we're creating so much that its worth it.  Thank so much  for reading and I hope you might consider supporting and sharing our Kickstarter campaign!  —Suann

Favorite Books to Gift

The last stop on my #shopsmall tour is a Washington, DC institution and the quintessential local bookstore, Politics & Prose. I’ve rounded up my favorite cookbooks and children’s books to gift.

There are so many local artisans making beautiful products in Washington, DC.  Why not Shop Small and support local products this holiday season?  I’ve highlighted a few of my go-to locally made products as well as some of my favorite Washington, DC-themed gifts to give.
